Excellence in Ministry
We
believe that God and His
ministry deserves our very
best. It is our desire to
present a ministry that is
characterized by
excellence.
Servanthood
The
first Scripture that God
ever spoke to our pastor was
1 Corinthians 9:19. It
reads, "Though I am free and
a slave to no one I make
myself a servant to all that
I might win the more."
Therefore, a servant's heart
is the foundation of all
evangelism and
transformation.
Mission-Mindedness
Each
person has a unique calling
and purpose from God. As a
result, we believe than when
a person is living and
working out of their passion
they are the most effective
for God. Our goal is to
help people live life as on
a mission trip for God.
Integrity / Holiness
God is
more concerned about WHO you
are than WHAT you do.
Therefore, the result of
ministry is not the only
thing of importance. The
journey - how we get where
God wants us - is just as
important. Integrity is
saying we are who we really
are. And holiness is being
like Jesus.
Leadership Development
Many
are called. Few are
chosen. Our desire is to
equip individuals to fulfill
their God-given destiny
through leadership
development. We believe
that humanity is made up of
three parts - the body, the
soul, and the spirit.
Therefore, our leadership
training aims at developing
the whole person.
Individual Value / Corporate
Unity
God is
the creator of every man,
woman, boy, and girl.
African-Americans, Asians,
Caucasians, Hispanics -
people from every ethnicity
and nation have the same
intrinsic value. We value
each person's gifting and
calling from God.
Even
though we value individuals,
we do not undermine the need
for corporate unity. There
should be no 'big I's' and
"little You's". Our desire
is to live for the Kingdom
and the Kingdom is more
important than any
individual.
Experiencing God in Worship
Worship is very important to
the City on a Hill
community. It is our belief
that this was one of the
main purposes of humanity.
Also, we believe God comes
to meet with man in a real
during this time. Our heart
is to encounter our Savior.
Reaching the Unchurched
Knoxville has over 300,000
unchurched people.
Realizing that this
comprises approximately 80%
of the population we must be
aggressive and strategic in
our efforts to reach the
unchurched and unsaved.
Reproducing Churches
Our
long term goal is to become
a mother church for other
church plants. Our vision
not only includes the
starting of other churches
in Knoxville but also
churches in other cities and
in other nations. |
